  Mastering the transition zone requires excellent reflexes, coordination and strategy. This clinic will cover a range of topics, including footwork, shot selection and court positioning. In the transition zone, players have a limited amount of time to react to the ball and choose the right shot. Through intense drills and game-like scenarios, we will focus on understanding how and when to reset or counterattack and the importance of knowing when to move forward or backward, and how to cover the court effectively.

  Master the advanced techniques needed to dominate at the Non-Volley Zone. You will learn how to execute volleys, drop shots, and precision dinks with purpose. Additionally, you will hone your ability to anticipate your opponents' moves. Through intense drills and game-like scenarios, you'll sharpen your strategy, positioning, and communication skills, and develop the confidence to make split-second decisions in high-pressure situations.

  APC Academy’s Serve & Return clinic is designed to help you perfect your serve, teaching you techniques for adding power, spin and accuracy to your shots. You'll also learn how to read your opponents' serve and return it with precision, developing the ability to anticipate their moves and gain the upper hand. Through intense drills and game-like scenarios, you will refine your footwork, court positioning and shot selection, and gain the confidence to take on even the toughest opponents.

  Playing from the baseline requires a combination of power, spin and control to keep your opponents off-balance and force them to make errors. This clinic will teach you how to add more power and spin to your shots, including techniques for generating more paddle head speed, spin and consistency. The clinic will also teach you how to identify and anticipate different types of shots hit at you and how to choose your best response for each situation. Using intense drills and game-like scenarios, we will focus on understanding when to hit a drive or a drop shot and how to execute each shot with precision. Players will take a more strategic approach to the Non-Volley Zone, focusing on the shift from a defensive position to an offensive one.

  Who: 16 Players (8 Men / 8 Women), All games are mixed play.

  Where: Truxtun Park Blended Courts 1&2 (Lower Courts)

  Dates: Tuesdays Sept 30th - Nov. 4th 

  Time: 6PM - 8PM

  Skill Levels: DUPR rating of 4.0+ with a minimum of 25 games logged in DUPR required. If you have no DUPR rating or less than 25 games logged in DUPR please use USAPA link below for Self Rating. All self-rated registrants will receive a peer review to ensure proper ladder placement.

  USA Pickleball Definitions of Player Skill Ratings

  Format of Play:

  • 16 players  will be assigned to courts based on DUPR rating at time of registration or self-rating (confirmed by peer review)

  • Each round will have 2 teams each consisting of 1 man & 1 woman playing 2 games. After the first game the teams will split and play the 2nd game.

  • 6 timed games per session: 15 minutes each

  • 2 one minute timeouts permitted per game except during last 2 minutes of play

  • If at end of time limit, games tied will play 1 rally point to decide winner

  • Scores will NOT be recorded in DUPR.

  • First server and side will be decided by Odds & Evens

  • Players with the best record/most points scored/least points lost will move up a court (Court #1 being the highest) other 2 players will move down a court (Court #4); teams will split but each team must be 1 man & 1 woman

  • Players will begin the following week on the court they would have proceeded to after the 6th game.

  • In the event a player is injured/sick during play and cannot continue, the team will forfeit. Scores will be reported to DUPR if the non-injured/sick team is winning and has scored at least 6 points. For score reporting in the ladder league, the score will be treated as a forfeit.

  • All scores will be reported to DUPR by the players after each game.

  *If you cancel your registration, you will be given a credit on your APC account. There will be no refunds. Please be sure that you are available for this event before registering.
