  Welcome to the 2024 Fall Evening 4.0+ Mixed (8 Men / 8 Women) Ladder League@ Truxtun

  Who: 16 Players (8 Men / 8 Women), All games are mixed play.

  Where: Truxtun Park Blended Courts 7&8 (Lighted Courts)

  Dates: Wednesdays May 7th - Jun. 4th (5 Weeks)

  Time: 5PM - 7PM

  Cost: $20 - *To learn how to use any credits you may have click here

  Skill Levels: DUPR rating of 4.0+ with a minimum of 25 games logged in DUPR required. If you have no DUPR rating or less than 25 games logged in DUPR please use USAPA link below for Self Rating. All self-rated registrants will receive a peer review to ensure proper ladder placement.

  USA Pickleball Definitions of Player Skill Ratings

  Format of Play:

  • 16 players  will be assigned to courts based on DUPR rating at time of registration or self-rating (confirmed by peer review)

  • Each round will have 2 teams each consisting of 1 man & 1 woman playing 2 games. After the first game the teams will split and play the 2nd game.

  • 6 timed games per session: 15 minutes each

  • 2 one minute timeouts permitted per game except during last 2 minutes of play

  • If at end of time limit, games tied will play 1 rally point to decide winner

  • Scores will NOT be recorded in DUPR.

  • First server and side will be decided by Odds & Evens

  • Players with the best record/most points scored/least points lost will move up a court (Court #1 being the highest) other 2 payers will move down a court (Court #4); teams will split but each team must be 1 man & 1 woman

  • Players will begin the following week on the court they would have proceeded to after the 6th game.

  • In the event a player is injured/sick during play and cannot continue, the team will forfeit. Scores will be reported to DUPR if the non-injured/sick team is winning and has scored at least 6 points. For score reporting in the ladder league, the score will be treated as a forfeit.

  • All scores will be reported to DUPR by the players after each game.

  *If you cancel your registration, you will be given a credit on your APC account. There will be no refunds. Please be sure that you are available for this event before registering.

  Requirements for Participation

  Must have 1) DUPR account and 2) joined the Annapolis Pickleball Club on DUPR no less than 48 hours prior to first session. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of registration. DUPR is free. When creating an account please use the exact name and email you used to register for the APC website.

  If you are unable to attend a session it is your responsibility to find a substitute within the same skill level. Failure to do so will result in removal from the ladder, no refund and not permitted to register for the next iteration of APC competitive events. Failure to find a substitute places additional burdens on the volunteers who work very hard to coordinate and run these ladders. Please be respectful.

  PICKLEBALL FOR PAWS: Serving Up Support for SPCA

  Join the Annapolis Pickleball Club (APC) for our 5th Annual Pickleball Tournament to benefit the SPCA, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humane care and adoption services for homeless animals. A portion of the proceeds will support this important cause.

  
  

  REGISTRATION FEES (Early-Bird thru MAY 31st) 

  • $50 Early-Bird thru MAY 31 (plus $5- $15 event fee)
  • $60 Committed Competitor JUNE 1- JULY 31 (plus $5- $15 event fee)
  • $70 Procrastinating Pro AUGUST 1- SEPTEMBER 1 (plus $5- $15 event fee) 

  TOURNAMENT BRACKETS: 

  • DUPR 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+
  • AGE 18+, 45+, 60+

  A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player (or higher).

  A team must play in the appropriate age bracket of the team’s youngest player.

  As registration proceeds, tournament management reserves the option to modify bracket formats, combine or split brackets, etc. as needed. If brackets are combined, medals will be awarded based on the original division. 

  SCHEDULE*: 

  FRIDAY: Singles 12:30-5:00pm (Start times will be posted and emailed Tuesday or Wednesday prior.) 

  SATURDAY: Gender Doubles 8:00am-5:00pm (Start times will be posted and emailed Tuesday or Wednesday prior.) 

  SUNDAY: Mixed Doubles 9:00am-5:00 pm (Start times will be posted and emailed Tuesday or Wednesday prior.)

  *Start times may change based on the the number of registrations in each brackets.

  ROUND ROBIN FORMAT:

  Each team/player competes against all others in their bracket.

  Larger divisions will have randomly seeded pools.

  Standings are determined by total wins.

  Tie-breakers:

  1. Head-to-head results.

  2. Point differential (if still tied).

  Winners are declared by standings or move to playoffs.

  As registration proceeds, tournament management reserves the option to modify bracket formats, combine or split brackets, etc. as needed. If brackets are combined, medals will be awarded based on the original division. 

  RULES:

  • We utilize DUPR as well as our own personal knowledge of players if applicable. It's not perfect, but it's our best defense against sandbagging.
  • While not a USAP Sanctioned Tournament we will be following USAP rules.
  • Paddles must be on the USAP or UAP approved list.
  • Bring your phone! You will be entering your own scores on your phone via the pickleball den website. The software will then update automatically for seeding, opponents, and court assignments.
  • There will be a volunteer acting rules official but we encourage you to settle all rules disputes on courts between the two teams competing (this is a fundraiser tournament after all).

  PARTNERS:

  • Each player needs to register separately.
  • You may register and identify your partner, or request "Need partner"
  • Both partners must be registered within 7 days of each other to ensure you're not moved to the wait list.

  TOURNAMENT DAY INFORMATION:

  • On each day of the tournament, please arrive thirty minutes before the start of your bracket.
  • You will be provided with a check-in code upon your arrival.
  • Please note, time, format and other changes are at the discretion of the Tournament Director. 
  • Brackets may be consolidated or expanded for court availability, venue modifications, or unforeseen incidents. 
  • Players will be notified by email of any changes.

  REFUND POLICY:

  • Please note our refund policy. When you sign up for the tournament, you agree to the refund policy which is provided in detail.
